Owen Has Agreement With Man City

Michael Owen has agreed to join Manchester City in the summer according to a report in the English press.

Newcastle United striker Michael Owen reportedly has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Manchester City and will move to Eastlands in the summer, according to the Daily Express.

Owen, as has been widely reported, is out of contract in the summer and may leave St James’ Park having failed to agree a new deal with the club.

The Daily Express claims that the striker has an agreement with Mark Hughes’ side and will join the club at the end of the season, providing they are not relegated from the Premier League.

The paper reports that Owen has held talks with the club and that the club are willing to sign him and meet his wage demands, provided he remains injury-free for the rest of the season.

Despite enduring an injury-played career on Tyneside, Owen has certainly proved both his fitness and form this season in a struggling Newcastle side, having bagged nine goals from 14 games.

The Magpies did offer Owen a contract extension earlier this season, however the striker admitted he wanted to keep his options open and would wait until the end of the season before revealing where his future lay.

City, meanwhile, have been linked with a long list of strikers and, earlier this week, had a bid for West Ham United’s Craig Bellamy rejected by the East London club.

However, a move for Owen looks likely, particularly as they remain one of the few clubs able to meet the striker’s reported wage demands.
