Megson To Wenger: Stop Whining About Bolton
The Professor has been told to quit scolding the Trotters over their tough-tackling style.
Arsene Wenger is not a fan of Bolton Wanderers. He doesn't like the way they play, he doesn't like their knack for picking up points against Arsenal, and he - like more football fans - doesn't like Kevin Davies.
The Frenchman's feelings towards the Great Manchester club's veteran forward are perhaps fiercer than most, especially after the Gunners' visit to the Reebok earlier this season.
The talking point of that all-action encounter was Davies' reckless tackle on Gael Clichy, but Gary Megson reckons Wenger was being melodramatic when he labeled it 'disgraceful' in his post-match rant.
"There was a complete furor over it," the Bolton manager said in The Sun. "Yes, it was a firm challenge but he has momentum and has caught Clichy. But he trained on the Tuesday!"
Arsenal, whose brand of football is widely regarded as one of the most attractive in the world, have often criticized teams who use tough tactics against them.
But Megson suggested that the North Londoners don't play quite so cleanly and prettily as they would like to believe, singling out an incident from their trip to Bolton last season.
He said, "We didn’t make anywhere near the fuss that would have been made by others when Abou Diaby was sent off for the tackle on Gretar Steinsson. It was shocking but we just accepted it."
