Bosingwa: Chelsea Players Back Scolari
Ahead of this weekend's trip to Old Trafford for a showdown with the defending champions, Chelsea's Portuguese right-back has revealed that 'Big Phil' has the full backing of his squad.
As rumors of dressing-room dissension continue to circulate around Stamford Bridge, Jose Bosingwa has spoken out about how Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari enjoys the full support of the Blues' players.
There have been stories claiming that the Chelsea manager has been involved in a series of disputes with players, ranging from arguments about transfers and money to debates over the tactics that the team should employ. Scolari has also felt that associates of players are leaking tales of internal unrest to the media and are subsequently creating disunity amongst the squad.
The Congolese-born Portuguese international claims that morale and togetherness are still high amongst the players though.
"All the players are with Scolari," he said earlier.
"He’s our coach and is more than qualified to lead us to success. This week I have noticed a greater intensity in training at Chelsea. I have seen more energy in all my colleagues because we have a big match against United on Sunday which is vital for the league title and we want to win it.
"Some people are beginning to doubt our chances for the title, but we want to leave Manchester proving that there is a lot still be to be decided."
Bosingwa may also be in line for a tussle with his Portugal team-mate, Cristiano Ronaldo, who was involved in a car crash last night after Manchester United's defeat to Derby County in the Carling Cup semi-final. Although he respects his compatriot's talent, Bosingwa insists that Chelsea have the players to stop the Ballon d'Or winner from performing effectively.
"To stop Cristiano is not easy but at Chelsea there are people who know him well, including the manager – we know what to do stop him putting on a show," the defender added.
Chelsea travel to Old Trafford in second place in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Liverpool and four ahead of United, who have played two games less.
