Mourinho Denies Manchester City Link

Inter boss Jose Mourinho has moved to quell speculation that he is set to leave his position with the Milanese giants and take over from Mark Hughes as Manchester City manager.

The Portuguese coach has experienced some difficulties adapting to life in Serie A, and even though his side top the table by six points, Mourinho has come under fire for some unconvincing results in Europe.

He has also clashed with fellow managers and the Italian press, with the latest controversy centred around Mourinho's statement that Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is a deeply ignorant man when it comes to footballing matters, and would be unable to discuss football with the majority of coaches in the world game.

But 'The Special One' will not be running back to England to hide, he claims, despite the persistent rumours linking him with the job at the City of Manchester Stadium.

"I am happy and, even in the most difficult moments in adapting, I never had any second thoughts," he told Mediaset today.

"I don't avoid comparisons with my previous experiences. I have never hidden and I will never hide that England was different, but I am happy.

“My contract runs out in 2011 and I want to honour it."

Meanwhile, Mourinho also spoke out about his relationship with his major rivals during his time at Chelsea, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Manchester United supremo Alex Ferguson, with the Scotsman seemingly enjoying a warmer realtionship with the Inter boss than his Arsenal counterpart.

"I don't understand him and I don't think it was easy for him that before 2004 he won everything, tearing up every record, and then after he didn't even win a cup," Morinho said of Wenger, perhaps forgetting that the Gunners won the FA Cup in 2005.

"Chelsea in 2004 [-05] ended up winning over Arsenal. It's obvious it's not easy, but I respect him a great deal.

"Ferguson is a friend and I have even gone out for dinner with him,” he said. "Between us there was the habit that, after every game, we always liked to have our little glass of red wine.

"I am happy to be facing Manchester United, reigning champions and World Club champions. We couldn't be facing a club with more prestige – there isn't a club that could give us more motivation.

"We'll have to see what happens, but if I succeed in transmitting to the players what I myself feel in these moments, I am sure we can do well."
