United’s Interest In Berbatov Cools Over Price
Manchester United’s interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Bulgarian striker, Dimitar Berbatov, is said to be cooling rapidly after Spurs told the Premier League champions that it will take £38million to persuade them to sell.

That price is way above what United seem prepared to pay for a player Sir Alex Ferguson has openly admired for some time.
The Red Devils put in an initial bid of £20million which was rejected by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who also accused Ferguson of being "arrogant" and reported United to the Premier League for their conduct in pursuit of Berbatov.
The Manchester Evening News reports today that Ferguson and chief executive David Gill refuse to be held to ransom over the player, and are therefore set to look fopr an alternative striker.
According to the MEN, other possibilities include Samuel Eto'o, Roque Santa Cruz and Karim Benzema - and there is even a report doing the rounds that United could be tempted to table a £15million bid for Barcelona’s ex-Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
