Hill-Wood: Kroenke Welcome On Arsenal Board
The winning over of Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood by American tycoon Stan Kroenke continues, with Hill-Wood now saying Kroenke is welcome to join the Gunners' board.
Stan Kroenke's charm offensive appears to have worked, with Arsenal
chairman Peter Hill-Wood saying the US investor in the club is welcome
on the board.
Hill-Wood has made his peace with the American, being won over despite having initially voiced grave reservations and suspicions about Kroenke's motives.
Kroenke's initial purchase of 10 per cent of Arsenal's shares in April 2007 met with hostility from the Gunners' chairman, amid concern that the billionaire was preparing to launch a full take-over at the North London club.
Kroenke, who owns the Colorado Rapids MLS franchise, has since raised his stake to more than 12 per cent, but Hill-Wood is now satisfied that the America is not plotting to seize control. So much so that he would welcome him in the boardroom at Emirates Stadium.
"I think he could make a contribution - whether he would want to do it, I don't know," he told the Daily Star.
"I think he would be a good addition. He seems to have been very sensible.
"I think he would be quite happy to buy more shares but I think he has absolutely no intention of buying the whole thing."
