No Ali Karimi As Iran Name Latest Squad

The Wizard of Tehran isn't ready to return yet.

Iran coach Afshin Ghotbi has summoned 30 players in preparation for their 2011 Asian Cup Qualifier against Jordan in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on November 14.

While Osasuna stars Javad Nekounam and Masoud Shojaei have been called up, Ali Karimi, who retired from the national team in June is absent, despite the fact that Ghotbi announced recently that the door was open for the Wizard of Tehran.

Team Melli have also arranged friendly matches with Iceland on November 10 and Macedonia ten days later.

Iran is currently at the top of Group Five after four points from the opening two games.
