Ghotbi Names Iran Squad For North Korea Clash
The roster has been trimmed for the journey to the Far East.
Iran
have named their squad for their June 6 World Cup qualifier in North Korea.
The list has been cut by coach Afshin Ghotbi from 41 to 27. The squad will warm-up for the vital clash by playing China on June 1.
Midfield talisman Javad Nekounam is absent due to suspension and also missing are the injured trio of Gholamreza Rezaei, Hassan Ashjari and Karim Bagheri.
Farshid Talebi of Zob Ahan made his debut in this week's friendly thrashing of Indonesia's Under-23 team and has kept his place.
The North Korean match is the first of three Group Two games that Iran have in order to save their qualification campaign.
Team Melli are in fourth place with six points from five games.
