Sources within the Chinese press claim that Ahn Jung-hwan has joined Dalian Shide in a three-month deal.

South Korea’s 2002 World Cup star has been looking for a club since failing to agree a deal with K-league side Busan I’Park and was linked with various American and Australian clubs.

If both parties are satisfied after the contract comes to an end, the deal could be extended.

Ahn is a free agent, and for Dalian his experience could be vital as they look to rebuild their squad.

The eight-time champions finished 14th in 2008, just avoiding relegation.

The 33-year-old joins former Busan team-mate Jeon Woo-keun as well as ex-Manchester United man Dong Fangzhuo.

Dalian kick off the new season on Sunday at Tianjin Teda.
