Japan Coach: Last Four Finish At 2010 World Cup
Japan coach Takeshi Okada has reiterated his aim of a last four finish at the 2010 World Cup.
It is not the first time that the bespectacled boss has talked of a semi-final finish.
Upon taking the job at the end of 2007, he vowed to better South Korea’s 2002 fourth-place.
"The year 2009 will be a very important year," Okada said according to the Sankei Sports daily on Tuesday.
"We will seriously aim to finish in the top four at the World Cup," he said.
"Some people may laugh it off but I think it is possible."
Japan reached the second round at the World Cup back in 2002 as co-host of the global tournament.
Blue Samurai are currently sitting in second in Group Two of Asia’s final round of qualification with seven points from three games.
