Fire loan out midfielder Fernandez for remainder of season

The Uruguayan World Cup veteran spent the last six months in Qatar and will resume playing for Club Nacional in his native country.
Alvaro Fernandez will remain on loan from the Chicago Fire for the remainder of the season, but he'll be changing addresses significantly.

After a six-month stint playing for Qatari side Al Rayyan, Fernandez has been loaned to Club Nacional in his native Uruguay for the duration of the 2013 MLS campaign. Fernandez played for Nacional prior to joining MLS and the Seattle Sounders in 2010.

A member of Uruguay's 2010 World Cup semifinalist side, Fernandez joined the Sounders as a Designated Player for the remainder of the 2010 season after the competition in South Africa. He enjoyed his best season in MLS the following year, scoring nine goals for Seattle in 2011. He was dealt to the Fire last summer and scored two goals and had an assist in 13 matches.

Fernandez was loaned out in January and played 11 games in all competitions for Al Rayyan.
