The South American World Cup qualifying group leaders will be hoping to return to winning ways against Ecuador.
Gerardo Martino, the coach of Paraguay, is likely to make two strategic changes to his side to face Ecuador in Quito on Wednesday. But he has been forced to make some modifications as well, with Julio Manzur and Aureliano Torres replacing Denis Caniza and Aureliano Torres, respectively.
In the midfield, Victor Caceres will occupy the position of Edgar Barreto, who is suspended, and Sergio Aquino will take the place of Marcelo Estigarribia.
While Martino announced that Nelson Haedo Valdez will finally partner Salvador Cabanas in Paraguay's lethal attack.
Earlier in the week, Valdez admitted that playing at an altitude of 2,850 metres above sea level has the potential to affect his performance. It seemed that the Borrusia Dortmund striker had automatically taken himself out of selection, but with Roque Santa Cruz out because of injury, he decided to help out his team.
When Paraguay met Ecuador in the first round of the qualifiers they claimed a crushing 5-1 victory.
Paraguay, the South American group leaders, will be hoping to pick up a win after suffering a frustrating 2-0 away defeat to Uruguay in Montevideo.
