Palmeiras have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian sensation Keirrison from Coritiba.Finally Palmeiras have been able to capture a high-profile player, as they look to find success in the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa Libertadores in 2009.
"Everything has been agreed on. I'm here with traffic (the investment agency) and we are finalising some minor details of the transfer," Marcos Malaquias, the agent of Keirrison, told Terra via the telephone on Thursday.
Keirrison attracted the attention of several top European clubs after his performances in the Brasileiro last year. These included Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Valencia.
The striker will remain at Coritiba until April, and after that date, he will join Palmeiras, one of the most successful clubs in Brazilian football history.
Surprisingly, the striker will be able to participate in the Copa Libertadores and the Paulista State Championship with Palmeiras this season. However, he will turn out for Coritiba at the beginning of the league season.
According to the player's agent, Keirrison will be officially presented at the Palestra Italia next week.
Keirrison finished as the joint top-scorer of the Campeonato Brasileiro last season, along with veterans Washington and Kleber.
