Argentine full-back Luciano Fabian Monzon is on the verge of completing his switch to Hamburger SV.

The Bundesliga side beat Real Betis to the signature of the 21-year-old, as confirmed by his soon to be ex club Boca Juniors

"We have reached a total understanding and agreement with Hamburg regarding the transfer of Monzon," Boca president Pedro Pompilio was quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We are happy because we think that what we have agreed is the best for Hamburg, Boca and the player.

"The negotiations were very long but have finally arranged everything."

Monzon is currently on in Beijing preparing for the Olympics final against Nigeria, from which he will be hopeful of emerging with a gold medal.

"Monzon will be travelling directly from China to Europe with his agent to discuss personal terms," added Pompilio.

"If that goes okay then the transfer will be completed."
