The Brazilian is certain to sign for the Bianconeri, and a deal is expected to be completed next week.

This Sunday, Palermo play their final match of the campaign at the Stadio Barbera, as Sampdoria come to town.

"It would be wonderful to wear the captain’s armband,” said Amauri.

“It would fill me with pride. I will speak with [current captain] Andrea Barzagli.

"The supporters of Palermo are extraordinary - I have always been filled with affection.

“It is an extraordinary town and whoever refuses this does not know the emotions. I will always remain a fan of Palermo, even after I have left."

Amauri joined Palermo in 2006 from Chievo Verona, and his career has really taken off in the Sicilian capital.

The 27-year-old has scored an impressive 15 goals in just 33 Serie A games this campaign, and hit the back of the net twice during last weekend’s 2-1 win at Lazio.
