The Artemio Franchi based club returned to Europe’s big time for the first time in almost a decade after qualifying through the preliminaries.

Expectations, ambitions and confidence is high but the Viola are not looking forward to facing their former hit-man, Luca Toni who plays for Bayern.

“Being here today is a great and deserved emotion,” Della Valle told Radio Blu.

“The teams in our group are very strong but they are not impossible to beat. Now we have to lower ourselves into this new reality.

“We were in the fourth pot but it could have gone worse. Bayern will be a hard game. Destiny wanted us to meet up and reunite ourselves with Luca Toni.

“Lyon are also well known but we will play for it. Now we need to get our heads down and think about Juve this weekend and we will return to think about the Champions League on Monday.”

Fiorentina sold Toni to Bayern last year and it was only a matter of time before the Italian international was reunited with his old side.

Casare Prandelli has been laying the foundations for the Champions League as he continues to build up his side for glory on the continental stage.
