Mutu Signs Contract Extension
The latest reports from Italy suggest that Fiorentina's Adrian Mutu has in fact signed a contract extension.

Yesterday, Fiorentina's official website announced the club and Mutu had agreed to a contract extension worth an extra 180,000 euros per season until 2012, but the parties had yet to sign the paperwork. The website assured fans that there were only a few minor details to be worked out and that an official announcement would be made on Thursday when all parties could meet.
However, now the whispers coming from the peninsula are saying that Mutu has already signed the proposed new deal.
The Romanian was close to moving to Roma this summer, but Fiorentina put a stop to the deal that would've sent one of their prized players to the Italian capitol. Roma's bid for the only Romanian to score for his country at Euro 2008 was thought to be in the region of 20 million euros.
Mutu has enjoyed two successful seasons in Florence, after being sacked from Chelsea and then a bench-warmer at Juventus for one season in the recent past. He has found his best form under Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli once again, who he worked with at Parma. Prandelli was one of the loudest in opposition to Mutu's proposed move to Roma, because he considers the former Inter player an irreplaceable member of his squad.
In a recent friendly, Mutu joined some of the fans in anti-Roma chants, in an effort to show his loyalty and commitment to the club.
