The 18-year-old is rated as one of Europe’s
best young talents, and Fiorentina beat off a host of top clubs such as
Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester United to sign him this summer from
Partizan Belgrade.
The Viola will next month take part in the Champions League preliminaries, and Jovetic has revealed that it is his dream to make it into the group stages.
“My dream is to get past that obstacle and qualify for the group phase,” the Montenegrin told the Corriere dello Sport.
“As for Serie A, only the results on the field will tell us which team is strongest. I can say that Fiorentina are the happiest side out there.”
Jovetic added that he is happy with how he is settling into life in Italy and Florence.
“I am very happy with how pre-season training has gone so far, as it proved to me I made the right choice and the city welcomed me in the best possible way,” he smiled.
“I chose Fiorentina because here there is a wonderful mixture of experience and youth. I also knew that the Coach, Cesare Prandelli, would guarantee my professional growth and improvement.”
Jovetic, labelled by some as the ‘new Dejan Savicevic’, has won two caps for the Montenegrin national team, and is part of an exciting batch of youngsters from the newly independent country.
