Until now Fiorentina have easily been the most active club on the Italian transfer market. No less than six new players were acquired by the club for Cesare Prandelli's team, all of whom are potentially first team players.
Having invested 50 million euros on transfers so far, the club will now necessarily focus on which players to sell to make back some of the money.
Sporting director Pantaleo Corvino announced today that Fiorentina will not be buying any more new players and that a number of players will now be sold.
"We have made huge sacrifices, spending almost 50 million euros, making Prandelli happy and assembling a high level squad," he said. "Now we have to think only about selling players to try and get our budget right again."
The Viola's new signings included striker Alberto Gilardino, full back Juan Vargas, former Torino captain Gianluca Comotto, young talent Stevan Jovetiç, and Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo. Lazio's Luciano Zauri is expected to be announced soon as well.
