Ujfalusi joined the Viola from Hamburg in 2004, following that summer’s European Championships in Portugal. The 30-year-old has had four excellent seasons at the Stadio Franchi, where he has been one of the squad’s most influential players.
Ujfalusi’s contract runs out next month, and there has been speculation all season that he would be leaving on a free transfer to move to Spain.

A few days ago the centre back announced that he would be moving to Spain, and Fiorentina have now officially confirmed this on the club’s official website.

“Sunday was Ujfalusi’s last game in a Fiorentina shirt and the club would like to remember the valuable contribution that this extraordinary player and great man has made over these four years,” a statement reads.

“We have experienced some great times with him in the side and some times that we will never forget.

“Ufo played 149 games in the Viola shirt and often sacrificed himself for the good of the team. He was always the first one to make himself felt in difficult moments.

“On the day that he officially leaves, Fiorentina would like to demonstrate their gratitude to Ufo and wish him all the very best for his future.

“He is a man whose qualities will be appreciated wherever he goes. Thanks Tomas, thanks again and good luck!”

Ujfalusi has not yet signed for another club, however Atletico Madrid are the hot favourites to snap him up.
