The forward has been strongly linked with a move to the Spanish champion in the past week and is expected to sign soon for Diego Simeone's outfit.
The tweet read: "Agreement reached, thank you [to] Torino and its fans for everything", but was deleted two minutes after it was posted.
Cerci then told Sky Sport: "I have not written and not deleted the tweet, I'm playing video games with [Ruben] Perez [fellow Torino star on loan from Atletico]... Atletico? Nice, but i'm a player of Torino. We will see..."
Torino fans will now hope the Italy international, who has scored 21 league goals in two seasons in Turin, will remain at the club once the summer transfer window comes to an end, despite the continuing speculation about his future.
