Reports in Spain have emerged suggesting the Catalans could make a move for the World Cup winner but his coach says he will "100 percent" be staying at the club

Pep Guardiola has quashed speculation that Jerome Boateng could swap Bayern Munich for Barcelona.

Reports in Spain on Monday suggested that World Cup-winning defender Boateng is a top target for Barca as it looks to strengthen its back line following the retirement of captain Carles Puyol.

However, Guardiola has no intention of allowing the 25-year-old Germany star to join the Bayern coach's former club.

"I do not know what the media say," he said at a press conference ahead of Bayern's clash with the MLS All-Star team in Portland.

"I only know that Jerome Boateng will be a Bayern player next season, 100 percent."

Since joining Bayern from Manchester City in 2011, Boateng has won eight trophies, including two Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League.

The former Hamburg man made 25 top-flight appearances for Bayern in Guardiola's first season in charge, and was an ever-present for Germany in its successful World Cup campaign in Brazil.

Barca is continuing to search for defensive reinforcements despite the signing of Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia, as Luis Enrique aims to bolster the squad as part of his tactical switch this season.

The Liga giants have joined Manchester United in the race for Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen, who now faces a straight decision over where his future lies.
