Menez: Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva persuaded me to sign for AC Milan

The Frenchman is primed to complete a medical ahead of his switch to San Siro, and he admits it was two former Rossoneri players who helped make up his mind.
Jeremy Menez has revealed that it was the advice of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva which led to him agreeing to join AC Milan.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker is in Lombardy to complete a medical and sign a three-year contract with the Italian giant, but it was only after consulting the French outfit's former Rossoneri players that he made up his mind over the move.

"Ibrahimovic and Thiago have always spoken well of Milan. They have some regrets over having left the club, and their words definitely prompted me to come here," Menez told Milan Channel.

The 27-year-old joined PSG in 2011, winning two French league titles during his spell in the capital, and he feels the versatility he demonstrated in Paris will serve new Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi well.

"In the last two or three years I have played up front, as a trequartista, on the left, the right and in the center. I am completely at the disposal of the coach in terms of where I will play," he insisted.

"I chose Milan because they are still Milan. They may have gone through some trouble last year, but we hope to become great again and win something important. You can see that Inzaghi is already recharging for next season and he really wants to win. He has already won so much as a player, and he wants to win as a coach too."

Milan sent delegates out to meet Menez while he holidayed in Ibiza, and the former Roma star admitted that was a key behind his decision to join the Rossoneri.

"Yes, that was decisive," he told MilanNews. "I was pleased that they came to Ibiza to see me. It was a good sign for me.

"Hopefully this will be a year of revival for Milan. We will do everything possible to become Milan again. I have not spoken to [fellow new signing] Alex yet, but I am delighted he has also joined because he is a great player."

Upon completing his switch, Menez will become Milan's third signing of the summer, following former PSG teammate Alex and Chievo goalkeeper Michael Agazzi to San Siro.
