The new Roma boss is determined to keep the Italy international at the Stadio Olimpico, despite frequent rumors of a move to the Premier League.Roma boss Rudi Garcia has insisted he wants to keep Daniele De Rossi at the Stadio Olimpico, despite interest from Chelsea.
The Giallorossi midfielder endured a difficult 2012-13 campaign, with former coach Zdenek Zeman falling out with the player, leading to his exclusion from the starting XI. Garcia, though, who moved to the Italian capital from Lille in June, is eager to ensure the 29-year-old Italy international stays put.
"He is a great player and surely it's better to have him with us than to see him leave," Garcia told reporters.
Both Pablo Osvaldo and Marquinhos have also been linked wtih moves away from the Olimpico this summer, with the latter attracting attention from Barcelona, but Garcia says there is no update on their futures.
"They are still with us, we would like to keep the best players. But if they were to leave, we will replace them," Garcia said.
Roma, which boasts U.S. international Michael Bradley and will play against the MLS All-Stars on July 31 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan., finished a disappointing sixth place in Serie A last season, failing to qualify for the Europa League.
