Colombian striker Teofilo Gutierrez has been casting flirtatious glances in the direction of River Plate, despite only having joined Cruz Azul last January.
“I shouldn’t hide something that has been with me since childhood and that I have in my heart, I’ve always liked River,” the controversial 28-year-old told Fox Sports. “Who wouldn’t want to play at River?”
The former Trabzonspor player is well known in Argentina following a stint with Racing between 2011 and 2012 in which he scored 20 goals in 40 games, but made headlines for all the wrong reasons when he allegedly pulled a paintball gun on teammates after a locker room fight.
Gutierrez’s agent Efrain Pachon is quoted by the EFE press agency as saying there is interest in his client from River and Rosario and that a move is possible.
“Teo’s contract wouldn’t be a problem, the clubs would have to agree a deal with an investment group and Mexico’s Cruz Azul,” said Pachon.
Gutierrez finished runner-up with Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2013 after Club America scored two late goals in the final to snatch away the title. He netted six goals in 21 league appearance in his first Liga MX season.
