Barton denies trying to force QPR to let him join Marseille

The 30-year-old refutes suggestions he demanded 3.5 million pounds from the Rs to end his stay in London and complete a permanent move to the Ligue 1 outfit, where he spent 2012-13
QPR midfielder Joey Barton has denied trying to force the club into allowing him to complete a permanent move to Olympique de Marseille.

According to reports, the 30-year-old had asked for 3.5 million poinds from the Rs to end his stay at Loftus Road early, leaving him free to move to the Ligue 1 outfit after spending last season on loan there.

However, the one-time England international took to Twitter to hit out at the speculation, claiming that the last time that he spoke to anyone at the west London club was in February.

"A lot of rumours circulating about me, Marseille and QPR in last few days. As usual loads of #nonsense," he wrote.

"I haven't had a conversation with anyone at QPR since February. When I told them Marseille had offered me three years. That was last I heard."

"[QPR] know where I am if they want to talk."
