On Tuesday, sources confirmed to Goal.com what was reported by TuttoMercatoWeb last week, that the Impact are in talks with Bologna over the acquisition of forward Daniele Paponi. The Impact are looking to acquire Paponi on loan until December and both clubs would share Paponi's salary, which exceeds 180,000 euros.
Paponi joined Bologna from Parma in 2010 and has hardly played for the Serie A side since. Over the last two years, Bologna has tried to transfer Paponi on to sides in Serie B and eastern Europe but the Ancona native refused to take those opportunities, wanting to prove that he could be a starter in Serie A. Paponi was also on trial with Chicago Fire last summer.
After Marco Di Vaio and Andrea Pisanu, Paponi would become the Impact’s third acquisition from the Emilia-Romagna outfit.
