thumbnail Hello,

Spurs had chased the former England youth international Manchester United academy player throughout the summer and persisted until signing the 20-year-old on Thursday.

Tottenham has confirmed the signing of former Manchester United fullback Zeki Fryers from Standard Liege, announcing the acquisition on the club's official website on Thursday.

Goal.com revealed that Spurs had bid for the left-sided defender in the summer before his eventual move to Belgium. Fryers was targeted ahead of the winter window once again by Spurs, who have now completed a move for the defender.

The 20-year-old left Old Trafford in the summer after spending three years in the Red Devils' youth academy. He made six appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side in all competitions last season.

Fryers had played five times for Standard Liege so far this term, departing the club as it sits in fifth place in the Belgian top flight. The England youth international will join Spurs' developmental squad, according to the club's announcement.
