With 40-year-old Australia international Mark Schwarzer firmly established as the club's No.1, Stockdale has found first-team football hard to come by at Craven Cottage.
Stockdale has racked up 20 appearances for the club during the previous two seasons when Schwarzer has been sidelined through injury or on international duty, but has yet to feature for the Cottagers this term, and has now been afforded the opportunity for some first-team exposure.
"The club can confirm that David Stockdale has joined Hull City on loan until January 2, 2013," a statement on the club's official website read.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed similar spells at Plymouth, Ipswich and Leicester over the past few years, and penned a new four-year deal in July 2011.
Hull currently sits in fourth place in the Championship, with Stockdale eligible to make his debut for the club this Saturday when it hosts Burnley at the KC Stadium.
