Ronaldinho could be exploring a move away from Flamengo

The 2005 Ballon d'Or winner did not show up for training after being handed an extra day off, but reports of a bust-up between player and club persist.

Rumors persist that Ronaldinho could be searching for his exit from Brazilian club Flamengo after missing training.

During March, Ronaldinho's agent and brother Roberto Asis admitted to Goal.com that clubs were interested in his client, including teams from Major League Soccer.

"Ronaldo has a contract with Flamengo until December of 2014 and he was indeed approached by several clubs around the world," Assis told Goal.com

Assis then explained that Ronaldinho had the utmost respect for Flamengo. Yet, things have dramatically changed over the past few weeks.

The playmaker was expected in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday to resume training, but didn't show.

After initially remaining tight-lipped, the Rio giant revealed that Assis had asked for an extra day off.

However, there is speculation that the former Barcelona man is keen to leave the club after being substituted and insulted by club fans in a match against Internacional. The relationship between the player and club appears to be more tense than ever, with Rio's press reporting that his agent is already negotiating with foreign clubs.

He is also said to believe that some figures within the club are trying to force him out.

And further reports suggest that Assis recently wanted Ronaldinho to quit Flamengo as soon as possible, but the former Milan man was keen to remain in Rio de Janeiro and has decided to stay for now.
