Barcelona remains interested in Araujo

The Catalans were believed to be keen to sign the Argentine youngster in the summer of 2011, and the player's current club has now revealed they are still interested

Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici has revealed that Barcelona is still interested in signing promising forward Sergio Araujo.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Blaugrana in the summer of 2011, but the transfer never materialized last year.

Nevertheless, Barcelona has not forgotten about Araujo as it continues to follow the Argentina Under-23 star's progress.

"They continue to be interested in Sergio Araujo, so I invited them to make an offer if they really want him," Angelici was quoted as saying by Sport.

Araujo is a product of the Boca youth academy, and made his official first-team debut in December 2009.
