Santos forward Neymar has rejected the notion that he needs to move to Europe in order to realise his full potential.
"Experience comes with time," Neymar told Globoesporte. "I have improved in the last three years and I can continue to improve by working hard and trying to win."
"I do not need to go to a new place to grow or get more experience. I am experiencing many things at Santos, with many positive accomplishments. I do not need to move to Europe.
The 20-year-old has expressed his wish to leave his homeland only in 2014, when his contract expires, despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Earlier in the month, Brazil legend Ronaldo stated that Neymar could scale greater heights than Barcelona star Lionel Messi, but only if he leaves the country, with Selecao coach Mano Menezes is also of the same opinion.
Such comments have been criticized by Santos officials and club legend Pele, and Neymar has declared that he can continue to develop in Brazil.
"Mano said that to help me. He wants the best for me. But this decision belongs to me, my father and the rest of my family."
Neymar has 16 caps to his name for Brazil, scoring eight times in the process.
