thumbnail Hello,

The Gelsenkirchen side are ready to make the Netherlands international an offer he cannot refuse in their attempts to hold on to the striker

Schalke director Horst Heldt has indicated that the Europa League hopefuls will do everything in their power to keep striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at the club.

The Netherlands international has a contract with Schalke that runs until the summer of 2013, but the Konigsblauen are determined to hold on to Huntelaar after his current deal expires.

Schalke is reportedly ready to hand Huntelaar a new contract until June 2015, offering him an annual salary of up to 8 million euros.

"If we want quality, then we must push ourselves to the limit," Heldt was quoted as saying by Bild

"We will not tie Huntelaar to the negotiation table and torture him. However, he knows that we really value him here. He feels happy here too."

The 28-year-old has developed into a key player at Schalke since joining the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2010. He has already netted 20 Bundesliga goals in 24 appearances this season.
