Demba Ba: It's possible I could join Paris Saint-Germain but it would be difficult to leave Newcastle in January

The Senegal international admits the Ligue 1 leaders are an attractive club but says his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations could rule out a switch this month

Demba Ba has admitted he is tempted by the prospect of joining Paris Saint-Germain, but believes he is unlikely to leave Newcastle in January.

Ba has been one of the breakthrough stars of the Premier League this season, scoring 15 league goals to help Alan Pardew’s unfancied side reach an impressive seventh in the table.

Ligue 1 leaders PSG is believed to be monitoring the striker’s rapid progress along with several top Premier League clubs, and Ba admits the idea of joining his favourite club is an appealing one.

"Join PSG? Yeah, why not? It's possible,” he told RMC. “I have always supported PSG. And it's an attractive club.

“But it will be difficult to do that in January. I'm in Newcastle and the fans like me. The transfer market will be closed when I return from the CAN [Africa Cup of Nations], so I won't focus on it.

“My first goal is the CAN and to enjoy a good result. I will then continue to play good matches with Newcastle. We undertook something, and I'd like to go all the way."
