David Beckham and Paris Saint-Germain have a "very good relationship," according to PSG sporting director Leonardo, but a deal has not been completed.
"We never said it was done," Leonardo said.
It has been rumored for months that Beckham is interested in returning to Europe once his five-year contract with the LA Galaxy expires on Saturday. According to his agent, the 36-year-old midfielder has received an offer from PSG, among other teams.
"An offer does not equate to a contract," the representative told Agence France-Presse.
"We continue to hold talks with a certain number of clubs, including PSG and LA Galaxy, but no decision has been made and we are waiting for one now."
One hold up could be Beckham's decision to leave Los Angeles, where he has raised his four children since becoming the face of MLS in 2007. He is also coming off his first championship with the Galaxy, who defeated the Houston Dynamo in last month's MLS Cup.
“We’ve never said that it’s done with him," Leonardo said. "We have a very good rapport, but I don’t know if that will work with David Beckham.
"For him, this is a family choice. He is in LA. He’s with his family. He must spend time there to reflect on his personal life, but nothing is done. I don’t know what he’ll do."
Sources revealed to Goal.com last month that the Beckhams will continue to live in California no matter where the veteran ends up in 2012.
A move to PSG would see Beckham reunited with Carlo Ancelotti, who took him on loan from MLS to AC Milan in 2009. The Italian was announced as the French club's new coach on Friday.
During his introduction press conference, Ancelotti admitted that the team will likely be active during January's transfer window but refused to mention any names.
"It is not about budget, it is about taking the chance of this winter market to reinforce the team in certain areas," he said. "I think it is not appropriate to mention names. We want to make a better team and what we can do, we will do."
Beckham, who began his career with Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid, had 11 goals and 31 assists in five seasons with the Galaxy.
