Malaga have announced the signing of midfielder Enzo Maresca on a free transfer. His contract will last until the end of the 2011-12 season with an option to extend the deal one more year.

The 30-year-old had his contract with Greek giants Olympiacos rescinded in August 2010 and had been without a club since then. Malaga made the announcement on their official website on Tuesday evening and Maresca is very happy to have joined Manuel Pellegrini's team.

"I come with a lot of hope and intention to contribute and help the team have a good season," said Maresca. "I'm already looking forward to playing with Malaga and start working with my new team-mates."

The former Juventus and Sevilla midfielder will undergo a medical on Thursday and will start training this week. However, the Italian's registration as a Malaga player won't be completed until January 2011.
