Report: Liverpool Pondering Move For Inter's Esteban Cambiasso

In case the Reds do lose one of their star midfielders, the Nerazzurri champ is the man they want to bring in.

Liverpool are thought to be preparing a move for Esteban Cambiasso, the Inter midfielder, in case they lose one of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano.

The Reds duo have been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, and while Liverpool do not want to sell either of them, they are making plans for replacements in case one does leave.

According to The Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez has identified Cambiasso as the ideal replacement for either one of his midfielders.

However, the 28-year-old Argentine international is a favorite of Jose Mourinho's, so it will take a sizeable offer for Inter to even consider a sale.

Cambiasso has made 153 league appearances for the Nerazzurri since joining them in 2004 from Real Madrid.

Manchester City are also reported to be interested in his services.
