Benitez hopes for 2014 success

The Partenopei boss has set his sights on the New Year and aims to meet the expectations of the club’s fan base.
Rafael Benitez has spoken of his desire to bring success to Napoli in 2014 as his side bids to win its first league title in more than 20 years.

The Serie A side is back in training following the Christmas break, as it prepares to face Sampdoria on January 6 at the Stadio San Paolo.

“(In 2014)We hope to bring us everything we want and achieve our goals and those of the fans," the 53-year-old told the club's official website.

Benitez also had praise for his squad and its professionalism as the focus switches to football following the holidays.

“After the Christmas break we are back at work this afternoon to begin preparing for our commitments, the game that we will play against Sampdoria at the resumption of the Championship next week,” he added.

The Partenopei currently sit in third place in the Serie A table, 10 points behind leaders Juventus.

The New Year will see also see Napoli return to European competition following its exit from the Champions League group stage.

Napoli will travel to Swansea for a Europa League last 32 tie February 20 before the second leg a week later.
