FIFA has confirmed the number of qualification slots allocated to each continent for the 2014 World Cup will not change.

The world football governing body held its first World Cup meeting yesterday evening in Zurich, where the first resolutions on the staging of the tournament were passed.

Their decision means the distribution of slots remains the same as those for the previous two World Cups in South Africa 2010 and Germany 2006.

Asia keeps 4.5 places, Oceania half a place, Africa five, Concacaf 3.5 and Europe 13.

South America maintain with 4.5, and Brazil qualify automatically as tournament hosts of the 32-team competition.
