World Cup 2010: Uruguay Coach Oscar Tabarez Lost For Words After Penalty Shoot-Out Victory

Tabarez has guided the Celeste to the semi-finals for the first time in 40 years.

Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez admitted he was surprised that the South American have managed to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Tabarez says that the team did not play well against Ghana, but showed their fighting spirit to beat the Black Stars in a penalty shoot-out.

"I do not know what to say. These guys deserved to go through to the semi-final," the tactician said after the match to Sport.it

"We did not play well today, but it would have been wrong had we bowed out of the tournament on penalties.

"The bond that the players have with one another is the strength of the team, and we are very proud of this fact.

"Now, we shall celebrate, but not have too much fun, as we meet the Netherlands in the semis, and we want to win," he added.
