Goal.com's worldwide team of editors have voted the Black Stars' shot-stopper as the top performer in their win over the United States.
Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has been voted the Goal.com Editors' Turkish Airlines Top of the Match for his performance in helping the Black Stars reach their first-ever World Cup quarter-final, where they will meet Uruguay. Olele was a key figure in keeping the Americans scoreless in the first half, making himself seem bigger than he actually is.
Even when Kingson was put under extreme pressure, he was able to make the crucial saves at pivotal moments, whether by hand or by foot, doing enough to stop a goal from being scored.
Unfortunately, he was unable to stop Landon Donovan from converting the spot-kick that made it 1-1 in the second half, but he did make a vital clearing punch in the dying minutes of the second-half extra-time, even when counterpart Tim Howard had decided to arrive in the penalty area looking for the equalizer.
Goal.com Readers' Turkish Airlines Top of the Match: Asamoah Gyan (Ghana)
The readers have gone against the editors and have selected striker Asamoah Gyan as their Top of the Match. Gyan became an instant hero when he scored the decisive goal in extra-time that saw the Black Stars advance to the quarter-finals for the first time.
Gyan gave USA goalkeeper Tim Howard no hope, keeping his opponent at bay, while sweetly volleying home the winner in the first-half of the extra time period.
