Shakira And Alicia Keys To Help Kick-Off World Cup 2010
Music stars head to South Africa.

World-famous musicians Shakira, John Legend and The Black Eyed Peas are among the performers for a concert that will kick-off the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
A star-studded line-up, also including Alicia Keys and Angelique Kidjo, has been put together at the newly-renovated Orlando Stadium on June 10, with the tournament itself starting two days later.
"We are thrilled to have a concert of such magnitude and performing talent raise the curtain on the first FIFA World Cup in Africa," said FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke.
"It is testament to the universal and unifying power of football and music, and will start the competition off on the right note – of celebration."
The concert is being organized by Emmy Award-winning producer Kevin Wall of Control Room - who were behind Live Earth 2007.
"We believe sports and music transcend cultural, language and geographic barriers, and through the official FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert, we will present the sights and sounds of unity and celebration for an unforgettable, must-see experience," said Wall.
All proceeds from the concert will be handed out to 20 Centers for 2010, aiming to build 20 centers across Africa that will offer education and healthcare coupled with football training to disadvantaged communities.

Other artists lined up to appear include Malian duo Amadou & Miriam, South African band the Parlotones and Colombian musician Juanes.
