Algeria Captain Mansouri: England Won't Be Easy

Midfielder confident his team can make the last 16.

Algeria midfielder an captain Yazid Mansouri has stated he is of the belief his men have  a good chance of qualifying in World Cup Group C second spot behind England.

After battling past Egypt in a thrilling play-off last month, the Fennecs now face Slovenia, USA, and the heavy favorites for top-spot, England.

But 31-year-old Mansouri believes that despite England's presence, his side still has what it takes to make the second round.

He told skysports.com: "The group is not easy, but Algeria have a chance to go through to the next round.

"Our morale is strong after qualifying for the World Cup and now it is necessary to promote the best image during the tournament."

Mansouri added that putting the Three Lions to one side, their other two opponents can be defeated, leaving second spot for the taking.

"England are the favorites for the group, but the other position is very open," he added. "Now, I consider that each team has the same chance.

"Algeria is not inferior to USA and Slovenia, and that is our challenge during next summer."

The FC Lorient midfielder also stated that the significance of playing in the World Cup was one thing, but the honor of playing England would be another.

"To play against England will bring a lot of prestige and I am totally convinced that for this match we will make a big effort on the pitch," he said.
