Carlos Queiroz: Cristiano Ronaldo Will Be Fit For The Play-Offs

Portugal's physio insists Ronaldo was fit for the Hungary game.

Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz believes he will have no worries over the fitness of captain Cristiano Ronaldo for the World Cup play-offs in November.

Ronaldo suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury while playing for the national side against Hungary last weekend and is set to miss between three and four weeks of action for Real Madrid as a result but Queiroz is confident he will return in plenty of time for the play-offs. Portugal's opponent for the two-legged qualifier will be known after Monday's draw in Zurich.

"We still have five weeks before the first game of the playoffs. Anyway, we are absolutely confident that we will see Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid before then," Queiroz said, according to AS.

Team physiotherapist Antonio Gaspar reiterated those sentiments and stated that the winger was fit enough to play in the game against Hungary, something which his club have reportedly disputed.

"Cristiano played the game [against Hungary] because he was able. It is clear that he could play because everything was done according to the procedure. There is talk of three or four weeks off, but that's just a hypothesis," Gaspar maintained.
