Mascherano: Argentina will play Germany with the soul, the heart and the head

The Barcelona ace is hoping that after successive quarterfinal eliminations at the hands of the Mannschaft, fate will finally smile on the Albiceleste
Javier Mascherano says Argentina is willing to give its absolute all to overcome Germany in Sunday's World Cup final in Rio de Janeiro.

The Albiceleste are once again going up against the nation that dashed their dreams at the quarterfinal stage of the last two tournaments.

Mascherano started both games and is, therefore, desperately hoping that Argentina's time has finally come.

“We are there now and we will try with the soul, the heart and the head to win," the versatile midfielder told reporters.

“We are at the final step and we will try to live up to the occasion. Then fate will know where to put us.

“I hope I can enjoy it and play with the joy and excitement it deserves.

“This is what you want from your life and what you have dreamed about for so long."

Argentina booked its place in the final with a penalty shootout success over Netherlands, while Germany destroyed Brazil 7-1 in a stunning last-four encounter in Belo Horizonte.
