Geoff Cameron set to miss two weeks with side injury

The U.S. national team defender/midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation of late, and has been hit with an ill-timed injury.

Geoff Cameron is set to miss two weeks with what Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has deemed a “side strain.”

The Stoke defender suffered the injury in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup match against Portsmouth, which the Potters won by a 3-0 scoreline. He was subbed off in the 34th minute.

"It looks like he (Cameron) will be out for a couple of weeks, unfortunately, with a side strain," Hughes told the media on Thursday.

Cameron’s future has been the subject of much speculation over the past two weeks, as Goal reported the U.S. national team player requested a move away from Stoke after two seasons with the club.

Despite the injury, Cameron was still included on Jurgen Klinsmann's list of call-ups for the USA's Sept. 3 friendly against the Czech Republic in Prague.
