MLS Preview: Montreal Impact - Sporting Kansas City

Sporting has run roughshod over the Impact so far this year, but a retooled Montreal side will hope to reverse the trend at Stade Saputo on Saturday.
The Montreal Impact will not be seeking to repeat the last visit of Sporting Kansas City to Stade Saputo.

When the Kansans previously made the trek to Quebec on May 10, they came away with a comprehensive 3-0 victory. That dominant performance came less than a month after Sporting had handed the Impact a 4-0 loss in Kansas, giving Peter Vermes' side a 7-0 total goal advantage over Montreal in 2014.

It's a daunting recent record for Frank Klopas' Impact to try to overcome, but the team has added a few pieces since the most recent loss to SKC. Whether the newcomers will make enough of a difference to reverse the lopsided scorelines suffered by Montreal this year remains to be seen, but the Impact will be buoyed by a mild upturn in results against the rest of the league.

For Kansas City, the match represents an opportunity to reclaim first place in the East, as an SKC win coupled with a D.C. United loss this weekend will put the reigning MLS Cup champs back atop the conference standings.
