Sacha Kljestan puts in goal, assist in Anderlecht win

The American midfielder helped his side to a 2-0 victory with a headed goal and an assist, which should boost his stock ahead of a March friendly versus Ukraine.
United States midfielder Sacha Kljestan will be hoping to get Jurgen Klinsmann's attention as the World Cup approaches, and his performance Sunday should do just that.

The 28-year-old scored Anderlecht's opening goal and assisted the second in a 2-0 victory against last-place Mons. The local press found the victory uninspiring, with HLN writing Anderlecht "should be better than this," but the American stood out with his headed goal and general play.

He'll look to impress enough to get into Klinsmann's squad for a March 5 friendly in Ukraine, with the manager saying he'll call a largely European-based side for the match. The former Chivas USA man has scored eight goals in the Belgian league this season and also put in a Champions League goal in December.
