The 26-year-old winger, who was limited to 10 games and two starts last season, was traded Friday from the Portland Timbers to Sporting Kansas City for allocation money.
Zizzo, a decorated U.S. youth international, joined Portland from Chivas USA in 2011. After making 30 appearances that year, he suffered his second torn ACL late in the season. Although he came back to play 20 games in 2012, the UCLA product suffered a torn medial meniscus this past March that limited his impact under new coach Caleb Porter.
"He's a very good wide player, someone who is going to help give us some more firepower out on the wing channels," said Sporting coach Peter Vermes, who coached Zizzo as an assistant on the U.S. Under-20 national team. "He is someone we have been looking at for the last couple years."
