thumbnail Hello,

The dual-national Bayern Munich prospect will play for the youth squad in a pair of friendlies after withdrawing from camp with Jurgen Klinsmann's U.S. side.

The newfound drama surrounding Julian Green's international future has taken another intriguing turn.

Five days after the 18-year-old Bayern Munich prospect withdrew from U.S. national team camp, Green has been named to the Germany Under-19 national team for a pair of friendlies against France, on Nov. 13 and 16.

Green, a dual-national who would need to file a one-time switch to play for the USA, was originally called into Jurgen Klinsmann's camp to train ahead of friendlies this month against Scotland and Austria but it was announced Wednesday he wouldn't join the U.S. during this window.

"He's a mature young man, and he clearly has a bright future," Klinsmann said last week. "I told him that when the time is right, the door is wide open."

Born in Tampa, Fla., Green moved to Germany at age 2. The midfielder-forward made an appearance for the Germany U-19 team last month that provisionally tied him to that program.
